How to Check MCA Annual Filing Status

Check MCA annual filing status by form, financial year and SRN, understand master data, and retain evidence of processing and filed documents.

To check MCA annual filing status, verify the company, financial year, required form and processing evidence together. Use the SRN for a specific submission and the available company filing records for the wider review. “Active” company status and a payment receipt do not prove that every required annual form was completed.

Reviewed 6 October 2026. MCA portal menus and access arrangements can change. Start from the official MCA website and use the current service instructions rather than an old screenshot or a third-party login link.

Before checking: identify exactly what you need to prove#

QuestionEvidence to examineWhat it does not prove
Is this the correct company?CIN and legal nameCompletion of annual filings
Was payment made?Challan/receipt and associated SRNFinal processing or accuracy
What happened to this submission?Current SRN processing detailsCompletion of a different form or year
Is the annual document available?Relevant filed form and financial yearCompletion of every other obligation
Are all annual filings accounted for?Form-by-year reconciliationAbsence of unrelated statutory defaults

For company annual filing, AOC-4 concerns financial statements and MGT-7/MGT-7A concerns the annual return. Determine the applicable variant before treating a missing document as a default. See the annual filing and due-date guide.

Route 1: check a known SRN#

If you have the submission’s Service Request Number (SRN), use the current official transaction/status service or the relevant signed-in account. Enter the correct reference and review the form, company, reporting period and status information shown.

Save the result with a timestamp. Where available, retain the acknowledgement, payment evidence and processing communications. If further action is requested, record the response deadline and the person responsible.

Do not treat a generated SRN as automatic acceptance. Payment, submission and processing are separate stages. Different forms can follow different processing routes; use the actual instructions and result rather than expecting one universal “approved” label.

Route 2: review company information and annual documents#

Start with the official company-information/master-data service and confirm the CIN and legal name. Any displayed filing dates can help orient a review, but they should be read in context. Company status describes the entity’s recorded status, not a comprehensive annual-compliance certificate.

For an outside reviewer, use the official public-document service where the relevant filing is available, following current account and fee requirements. Select the correct company and review documents by form and financial year. A financial statement uploaded in one calendar year may relate to an earlier financial year.

Where the portal does not establish the answer, request the company’s SRN, filed form, acknowledgement and processing evidence. Avoid inferring a confirmed default solely from an incomplete search result or a temporary portal issue.

Build a form-by-year reconciliation#

Use a simple evidence register. The sample below is a review format, not an official MCA form.

Never populate the status column from a receipt alone. Check whether the intended financial year and company are correct, whether required resubmission was completed, and whether an unresolved processing issue remains.

Pending payment, resubmission and other unresolved cases#

Payment uncertainty: reconcile the portal and bank evidence before repeating a payment. Preserve the transaction reference and contact official support through the portal if the result remains unclear.

Resubmission or clarification: read the actual communication, correct the stated issues and submit through the prescribed process within its deadline. Save the corrected version and acknowledgement. Do not assume uploading a new document by email completes a portal requirement.

Rejected or otherwise unsuccessful filing: determine the required next action from the official communication and applicable form instructions. A prior payment or reference may not make the filing complete.

Portal outage or missing result: record the attempt and retry through the official service. Escalate with company, form, SRN and date details, excluding unnecessary personal information. A technical failure does not itself establish either compliance or default.

Sections 92 and 137 of the Companies Act establish the core annual-return and financial-statement filing duties. A portal review is an evidence check against those requirements, not a substitute for preparing accurate accounts, maintaining registers or meeting the applicable deadlines. Official Companies Act record.

For deadlines, distinguish the statutory period, AGM date, company-specific circumstances and any verified period-specific circular. Do not assume a filing has no late consequences merely because the portal accepts it.

Filing-status evidence checklist#

Before marking a year complete

  • Correct CIN, company name and financial year.
  • Applicable AOC-4 variant and annual-return form identified.
  • Filed forms and relevant attachments retained.
  • SRNs and payment evidence matched to each form.
  • Processing results and required responses reviewed.
  • Outstanding actions, responsible person and deadlines documented.
  • Evidence archived with the date of review.

Frequently asked questions#

How can I check MCA annual filing status without an SRN?

Identify the company by CIN, review available official company information and use the public-document service for the relevant form and year. Request the company’s filing evidence if public records do not establish the answer.

Does an Active company status mean annual returns are filed?

No. Company status and annual filing completion are different questions. Check the required forms, financial year and submission/processing evidence.

Is a paid challan proof that MGT-7 was completed?

It is payment evidence. Verify the associated submission, correct financial year and actual processing outcome, including any required resubmission.

Can I download a company’s annual report from MCA?

The relevant filed financial-statement documents may be available through MCA’s public-document service, subject to current access requirements. They may differ from a separately published shareholder annual report. Check the document and financial year.

Need help resolving a filing gap?#

Prepare the CIN, financial year, form names and existing SRNs. Read the annual filing checklist or contact SigmaTenders to organise an evidence review and next steps.
